Pro Team kicks off great winter run
There's nothing like having our own endorsee win our hometown rodeo! Cowboy Militia cowboys have been going at it this winter, and we're proud.
It all started at the first big winter rodeo in Odessa, where not only did Cowboy Militia team ropers JoJo LeMond and Randon Adams split first with a two-head time of 8.6, but our tie-down roper Clif Cooper won the first round with an 8.2 and placed second in the average, and new endorsee Matt Bright was fifth in the bareback riding.
Next, Shane Hanchey, just weeks after winning third in the tie-down roping at Denver, easily won the Fort Worth Stock Show Rodeo after roping and tying three calves in 26.9 seconds. He earned $10,861 toward his first NFR qualification in just his sophomore year. He also came with guns blazing to win the first round at Rapid City with an 8.6-second time on a stout, fresh calf.
Bull rider Bonner Bolton placed second at the Texas Circuit Finals Rodeo in January with rides of 83 and 85 on two bulls, while in Belton, Texas, bull rider Shawn Proctor was 89 points on Andrews Rodeo Company's bull Wacky Weed for a big win.
Tie-down roper Clint Cooper's been busy showing up, too. He was 8.2 to split the win at Okeechobee, Fla., in February, and then crossed the country to put up a 7.2 that gave him the tie for first at Parada del Sol in Scottsdale, Ariz.
With the brackets at RodeoHouston not even complete today, Randon Adams and JoJo LeMond have already advanced to the semifinals, as have bareback rider Matt Bright and calf roper Landon McClaugherty. Go team!
